Perses progress

June 9, 2016

Oh dear. By finishing the last scene, I managed to add 4051 words to the book. My target of 50k has turned into a slightly bigger 56,324. Bray and Garvan took more  control in the scene than I planned and threw me a few curve balls. As a result I now have to make some additions to other sections of the book. They’re good curve balls so I’m not complaining.

I’m not going to worry about the length at the moment. After my beta readers and editor have got their hands on it that word count will change – up or down, who knows? It may end up being a novel as opposed to a novella. I’m not overly worried about that. The last thing I want to do is cut scenes short just to make it fit into a certain size category. It will be what it wants to be – the story and characters control that, not me  ;)
